Final Fantasy XVI didn’t appear at the 2021 Tokyo Game Show this weekend, but Square Enix is still happy to discuss the next RPG. In a recent interview (as reported by Siliconera), producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that the highly anticipated title will feature an “extensive” skill tree system, intended to enable “unique and personal” character growth.
From Yoshida’s comments, it looks like this system is going to be pretty thorough. We already know you’ll be playing as Clive Rosfield – the sword and magic wielding fighter from the trailer – but it’ll be interesting to see how customizable his fighting style is. Again, Yoshida suggests players will have plenty of options.
Additionally, it is currently unknown whether Clive is the only playable character in the game. These skill trees can also apply to different party members.
Hopefully, we’ll see more of Final Fantasy XVI sooner rather than later. His absence from the Tokyo Game Show 2021 was expected, but it would still be nice to find out more about the game in the relatively near future.
