If the Cubs and Brewers are really able to play tonight – the weather is shaping up to be bad – we could FINALLY see Rowan Wick come back!
The dominant 28-year-old setup man, once seen as Craig Kimbrel’s eventual successor, has been out for more than a calendar year while facing an oblique strain that has mutated into other issues in the process of rehabilitation (there is apparently no injury in baseball with wider possible return durations, from a few weeks to a year). But eventually, after recovering and then reassembling the farming system and showing the right things periodically in Iowa, he’s ready to come back.
The Cubs activated RHP Rowan Wick from the 60 Day Injured List. RHP Trevor Megill opted for Triple-A Iowa and LHP Kyle Ryan was recalled as the “27th man” for the night game.

The Cubs saved their 27th man for the second half of the doubles, it seems, and now have two arms added, with Kyle Ryan joining Wick. Trevor Megill, who pitched in Game 1 and dropped out of another home run (he’s having trouble raising the shots), will return to Iowa.
Wick can’t save the Cubs’ season at this point, obviously, so most of all you’d love to see him settle into a rhythm so that you feel good with him as locked in part of the reliever pen for. 2022, if he is in good health.
