Fire at NOLA mansion owned by Beyonce, Jay-Z classified as arson

NEW ORLEANS – A former New Orleans church bought by entertainment moguls BeyoncĂ© and Jay-Z caught fire on Wednesday night and a few days later, according to WWL-TV, appears to have been started on purpose.

New Orleans firefighters were called to the Garden District residence, which is in the 1500 block of Harmony Street, around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, NOLA. com reports.

It took around twenty-two firefighters to bring the blaze under control and the flames were completely extinguished around 8:30 p.m.

The incident caused no injuries but caused damage inside the mansion.

According to the fire department, no one was living in the house at the time of the fire, but the residence has functional utilities.

Although NOFD officials did not elaborate on what led them to believe the fire had been intentionally started, there was ample evidence that it was and an investigation was quickly started.

According to WWL-TV, an agent from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was inside the house on Thursday afternoon, alongside fire and police personnel. .

Officials say it was a residential smoke detector that initially alerted firefighters to the incident.
