Update:

NEW YORK (AP) – The New York City Fire Department announced the death of the pilot of a helicopter that crashed on the roof of a Manhattan skyscraper.

The fire department said that the helicopter crash had landed at the top of the tower, not far from the Rockefeller Center and Times Square.

It does not appear that anyone was on board when the accident occurred around 14 hours.

Governor Andrew Cuomo told the press that a fire had broken out when the plane crashed, but it is under control. Cuomo said that he shook the building. He said that there are no reports of injuries of people in the tower.

It was not known immediately what kind of helicopter was involved.

Videos posted by spectators showed emergency vehicles on the street, but no obvious damage to the skyscraper.
