In Monday's "First Call", Alex Ovechkin was eliminated in a fight. A preview of the Pirates series in Detroit. Gerrit Cole warms up for Houston.
Ovi K.O.
Alexander Ovechkin did not score for the Capitals on Tuesday night. No one from Washington did it. The Capitals were cleared by the Hurricanes, 5-0, after winning the first two games of their series against Carolina.
But Ovechkin won this fight against Andrei Svechnikov convincingly.

It was Ovechkin's first fight in the playoffs. And he came up against a 19-year-old rookie that Ovechkin surpasses by 51 pounds.
So maybe Ovechkin did not think he was doing it? At least, that's what Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour thinks.
Brind's Love: "The gloves of a guy are the ones that come first – and it's Ovi, not our guy." So it's a little frustrating because he's not sure what's going on. Is his first fight, he's played 90 games, he's never beaten his life, and I'm pretty sure Ovi knew it. " that bothers me. "

Svechnikov's brother, Evgeny, plays for the Red Wings. After the fight, he sent a message to Ovechkin via social media.

Evegeny Svechnikow is a little older and taller than her brother. He is 212 pounds and 22 years old. So maybe that Ovi will have to fight the two brothers next year.
Beautiful beginnings
Last weekend, Cale Makar played college hockey in Buffalo. He was a defender of the UMass team who lost to Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA hockey final.
Last night, the winner of the Hobey Baker Award made his NHL debut for Colorado. And he did it for the Avalanche.

This proved to be the winner of the match for the Avs who beat the Flames 6-2 in Game 3.
Colorado is now leading the series 2-1.
Bonino Bomb
Predators forward Filip Forsberg scored this goal to help Nashville win in Dallas.
But, thank former Penguin Nick Bonino for passing the flip-pass. This is the second point of Bonino's playoffs. It was Forsberg's first goal in the playoffs.
Nashville has a 2-1 lead.
So what do they have?
The Pirates are in Detroit today and tomorrow for a short run. Joe Musgrove and Trevor Williams leave for the Pirates. Matthew Boyd and Spencer Turnbull will oppose it.
The Tigers have taken a surprisingly decent start. Detroit is 8-7 after losing 98 games a year ago. However, they lost three times in a row.
The pitching was beneficial for the Tigers. Like the Pirates, they only allocated 49 points. It's second baseball behind only Tampa Bay.
Detroit's efforts were much better than what we saw in Pittsburgh. Ron Gardenhire's club made only five mistakes. This is the second lowest total of the majors behind the Royals with three. Meanwhile, the pirates have 14.
Unfortunately for the formation of the Tigers, this can not touch for the moment. The seven circuits of Detroit are at the bottom of the league. And their batting average of .201 is 28 out of 30.
Audit on Gerrit 'K'ole
The former pirate Gerrit Cole is 1-2 years old to start the year in Houston. Of four housing starts, her ERA is about right 3.24.
But he hits the batters at a remarkable pace. In fact, Cole tied for the MLB with 36 Ks. The right-hander scored 11 in his last start against Seattle on Sunday.
