Ike says it’s time
On Wednesday, Fan’s 93.7 PM Team, host Andrew Fillipponi asked former Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor if it was time for Ben Roethlisberger to “go out at sunset.”
“One hundred percent,” Taylor replied immediately. “It’s the mobility part. If you look at three-quarters of AFC North, they’re young. They are mobile. They have playoff experience.
Well, Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens) and Baker Mayfield (Cleveland Browns) do. Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals) doesn’t. But keep going, Ike.
“Seven has done enough. He’s had a hell of a run. It’s the mobility part, ”Taylor said.
That said, Taylor expects Roethlisberger to play the final year of his contract at Pittsburgh.
“They’re going to let Ben go wild until he wants to go wild,” Taylor continued. “You know the Steelers, they are loyal.”
Taylor says his concern is that the Steelers are delaying the clock on starting a “three-year” schedule for a new quarterback to update. And with those three other Steelers Division QBs, he sees AFC North as a potential big problem for the Black and Gold.
Raven leaves the nest
Baltimore Ravens lose assistant coach.
The NFL Network reports that the Houston Texans are planning to hire David Culley as their new head coach. This is the last NFL head coach position to be filled.
Culley has been the assistant head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, as well as the passing coordinator and wide receivers coach, for the past two seasons.
Miller Time
Coraopolis product JT Miller scored two goals for the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night against the Ottawa Senators.

The former Pittsburgh Hornets had yet to score this season before repotting those two as the Canucks beat the Ottawa Senators 5-1.
And before asking, no. Matt Murray was not in the goal for the Senators. Marcus Hogberg was between the pipes for Ottawa. Murray received the night after allowing Vancouver seven goals on Monday.
Baker is ballin ‘
Duquesne’s Chad Baker picked up where he left off last week.
The freshman swingman was named Atlantic Rookie 10 of the Week. Then on Wednesday night Baker hit seven 3-pointers en route to a 23-point high as the Dukes beat Fordham 86-62.

The 24-point victory margin is the biggest ever for Duquesne in an Atlantic 10 road game.
Last Wednesday, he scored a game-high 19 points to help the Dukes recover from a 15-point second-half deficit to defeat Rhode Island. Baker went 6 of 7 from the field – including 5 of 5 from the 3-point arc – as the Dukes came back strong to win 71-69.
Duquesne welcomes the Saint-Joseph Saturday evening at La Roche.
