First drift reports of the joystick appear for Nintendo Switch Lite

facepalm: Nintendo has basically put everything in place with its Hybrid Switch console, with the exception of the JoyCons, which suffer from a drifting problem. Just days after launching Switch Lite, at least one user also reported drifting the joystick on the new device.

Redditor TorteDeLimi posted a video (below) showing his new Switch Lite screen, which exhibited the symptoms of "joystick drift". Assuming that the video is real and not a simple calibration problem, this could be a serious problem for Nintendo. At least with the original switch, the JoyCons constitute a separate component easily replaced. The Switch Lite has built-in controllers that require repair instead of just a replacement.

When JoyCons are no longer under warranty, users have two options: buy a new set of controllers for about $ 70 or repair the defective components themselves. Parts are easily available on Amazon for around $ 14, and replacing them is simple. This voids your warranty on JoyCons but not on the console itself. The DIY of your Lite controllers is not that simple.

The Spawn Wave YouTube channel removed a Switch Lite and reported that Nintendo seems to have used the same joystick switches as the JoyCons. A closer look at the mechanisms, however, revealed a different part number from those used in the other controllers. Whether the company has attempted to solve the problem of drift or if it is simply "same piece, different device" is unknown.

Whatever it is, fixing the problem persists on the lite seems to be a pain. Accessing the joystick mechanisms requires complete disassembly. Repair is much more complicated than simply replacing defective JoyCons sticks. this also voids the warranty of the entire mobile terminal. It is best for users to send their Switch Lite for warranty service.

Until now, Nintendo has not officially addressed the problem in the original JoyCons, even in the face of a class action lawsuit. He also did not comment on the apparent problem with the Lite. Perhaps a new dose of returns from the new portable device alone will prompt it to act on both fronts.

Again, maybe this is nothing more than a calibration problem in this case. We will have to wait and see if other users report the same problem.
