Paramount Pictures has released the first look at its adaptation of Scholastic’s famous children’s book Clifford the big red dog and the big canine looked very red… or something close. As soon as the trailer went live, Twitter sparked a reaction – and few of it was good.

Just search for “Clifford” on Twitter and you’ll read the many reactions that range from scary to hilarious. But the only thing was the dog’s gaze. Many were talking about the way the dog looked weird – but mostly about the red hue.

“I was trying to figure out what Clifford’s color reminds me of, and I got it: a blonde person who did the kool-aid hair dye thing,” Caroline Haskins, reporter for BuzzFeed, tweeted.

During this time, many people just stared at the dog, not holding back from ridiculing it.

“If Clifford looks like this, what is Stitch going to look like?” YouTuber Kingsley tweeted.

“CGI Clifford is nothing like Martin Short,” actor James Urbaniak said, referring to the 1994 comedy of the same name.

Timeless Actor Malcolm Barrett rang the bell, “I know you all think I’m kidding but, by the time I auditioned, I really wanted the villainous role in Clifford … Like, for real, I put it all in. it.

Others just thought the Big Red Dog ridicule was unnecessary. Author Preeti Chhibber wrote: “I can’t believe you are all harassing Clifford.”

“More people are upset by the appearance of the new Clifford the Big Red Dog than 45 forgiving Michael Flynn,” tweeted RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Nina West.

The negative review for Clifford is already seen for Paramount as they experienced the same with the first look at Sonic the hedgehog. Fans of the video game character immediately panicked on Twitter when they saw his teeth, calling them “scary” and “nightmarish.” This prompted paramount to delay the release so that the production could work more on the character overhaul. It could very well be the same for Clifford.

Directed by Walt Becker, Clifford the big red dog stars Darby Camp as Emily Elizabeth, a college girl Emily who meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gives her a little red puppy. She had never planned to wake up to find a giant ten foot dog in her tiny New York apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away on business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) embark on a breathless adventure.
