Here's a preview of Steven Spielberg's planned adaptation of the Broadway classic West Side Story, the story of young love and tensions between rival gangs Jets and Sharks on the streets of 1957 in New York. The film is currently in production for Twentieth Century Fox.

Produced and directed by Spielberg from a screenplay by Tony Kushner, the film is based on the original 1957 Broadway musical, written by Arthur Laurents with music by Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim's lyrics and concepts , direction and choreography by Jerome Robbins. Justin Peck will choreograph the musical numbers of the film.

The film's musical team also includes conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who will conduct the recording of Bernstein's iconic score; composer and conductor David Newman (Anastasia) who will organize the score for the new adaptation; composer Jeanine Tesori, who will work with actors on vocals; and musical supervisor Matt Sullivan (Chicago), who will serve as executive music producer for the film. The photo will be released by Disney in the United States on December 18, 2020.
