Five Reasons Why Texas Longhorns Will Defeat LSU Tigers

After an outstanding 45-14 win in the season opener against Louisiana Tech, the Texas Longhorns are only a few days away from their first real challenge of the new season.

When the LSU Tigers arrive in town on Saturday, the entire nation will watch them. And with College Gameday coming to Austin for the first time in nearly a decade, this game is becoming a game for the ages. Both teams are ranked in the top 10 and aspire to the playoffs, but a defeat for one team or the other could almost ruin their chances.

LSU is a difficult team. If the Longhorns have the slightest chance of beating the sixth ranked team in the nation, everyone will have to play their first game.

Here are five reasons the Longhorns will defeat the Tigers on Saturday.

1) Sam Ehlinger

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger had a tough start to his first game in 2019 against Louisiana Tech. He completed 28 passes in 38 attempts (73.7%) for 276 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball eight times for 34 yards.

If Texas has a chance to defeat LSU, he will need Ehlinger to win his match. Chances are, he will do it. Although the Tigers gave the country the fewest passing yards last week (24), Ehlinger is a much better player than the quarterback they faced last week. It will certainly pose a difficult challenge to the young LSU high school student.
