DJ, play the hits.
Tell us if you’ve heard of this before, but a five-star corner rookie from Jacksonville has chosen to continue his career as Buckeye.
Jaheim Singletary of Robert E. Lee High School in Florida has enlisted in the state of Ohio, he said on Saturday. His entry gives Ohio State its third entry in the top 15 overall and the fifth entry in the top 55 overall.

Singletary’s decision follows in the footsteps of former five-star Trinity Christian Academy corners Shaun Wade (2017) and Tyreke Johnson (2018), who each chose Columbus as their next home in Jacksonville.
So to speak, Wade and Johnson’s choice to engage in Ohio state helped Singletary pick the Buckeyes.

“This is the state of Ohio, they put a lot of DB in the league and it’s a dream to go to a DBU school,” Singletary told Bucknuts in November. “They have Jacksonville guys over there like Shaun Wade, Tyreke Johnson and [Marcus] Crowley. Since the state of Ohio proposed to me, I have spoken to them every day.
On November 5, the Buckeyes finally called, and it was a pivotal moment for the nation’s No.10 player and No.5 cornerback.
Singletary holds offers from Clemson, Georgia and Florida – the other three schools that were in its last four – plus LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M and USC.

But Kerry Coombs’ reputation for putting defensive backs in the league, and his relationship with Coombs and regional scout Tony Alford, led Singletary to hope he would be extended with an offer from Buckeye.

It was the offer he had been waiting for so long, and when it finally arrived, it was only a matter of time before he locked his decision.
“Ohio State is one of those schools that places the best DBs in the league,” Singletary told Bucknuts. “Marshon Lattimore, Eli Apple, Malik Hooker, many more. They can get me closer to my goal of reaching the NFL and playing ball.
Singletary’s recruiting accelerated after the offer, as the 6-foot-1, 170-pound player stole Crystal Ball’s predictions to ultimately pick Columbus.
And now, with him in the crease, the Buckeyes get another top outside cornerback as they continue to build their defense of the future with top notch players.
