Five takeaways from Justin Fields vs. Trevor Lawrence

1) Fields had more on the line than any other player in this year’s college football qualifiers and saved his best performance for this stage which is a big deal.

Friday night’s game was the best I have ever seen it play. In his three previous starts, Fields had a 4: 5 touchdown / interception ratio and took 11 sacks. He was not decisive in these contests. It was the story completely opposite to Clemson, however. He was urgent, trusted what he saw and let it tear itself apart. Fields had as many TD passes (6) as incomplete (6), finishing 22 of 28 for 385 yards with an INT and two sacks. It was a spectacular performance.
