A pink flamingo from Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington, Illinois, was euthanized after a child threw a rock in his pen and hit the bird.
Jay Tetzloff, director of parks, recreation and arts in the city, told Fox News that the child, who has not been publicly identified to date, "accidentally injured the Flamingo on Monday. by jumping a stone into the habitat ". the rock hit one of the legs of the bird, breaking it. Before the incident, the zoo had 25 flamingos. The animals are located near the entrance to the attraction. But Tetzloff said that zoo officials did not change the presentation despite what had happened, he told The Pantagraph.
The rock broke the bird's leg, said the zoo officials.

A similar incident occurred in 2017 when a 19-year-old man threw a rock on a pink flamingo at a Florida amusement park. He was later arrested on charges of animal cruelty, the Tampa Bay Times reported at the time.
