A Florida bar temporarily closed almost immediately after it reopened, following reports that a large and crowded crowd gathered at the establishment the same night it reopened.
A photo that would show the scene from inside the company has sparked controversy not only for the size of the crowd, but for the fact that hardly anyone appears to be wearing a mask.
Authorities temporarily closed Wharf Fort Lauderdale on Saturday after the bar reopened on Friday, the Sun-Sentinel reports. Officials took action after a large crowd of maskless patrons gathered at the bar, sparking fears of a possible mass-market event.

“If they don’t make customers wear masks, they leave us with no choice but to shut them up,” Broward Mayor Steve Geller said in a statement to the media. “Our goal is not to close businesses. It’s to get compliance. If we have to shut down businesses that intentionally violate our laws, maybe that will send a message. They must obey our orders for the safety of the public.

On Twitter, the bar confirmed it would close for a while, but did not immediately recognize the reason for its abrupt closure.
