MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Florida – COVID-19 vaccine eligibility increases, with another drop in age taking effect on Monday.
Meanwhile, vaccination efforts took a big step forward this weekend.
at 10:38 am, Seadell Roundtree, she received the 100,000 vaccines at the FEMA-supported vaccination site at Miami-Dade College North.
“My grandchildren, I can see them from afar,” Roundtree said. “But now we can be a family again.”
On Monday, any Floridian over 40 can receive a COVID-19 vaccine, and a week after that, more adults will be eligible.
“We anticipate a rush,” FEMA spokesman Mike Jachels said. “We’re ready, but the best thing to do is plan ahead and be prepared.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made the long-awaited announcement on Thursday, marking the end of days of patchwork eligibility rules that varied by site.
“All adults in the state 18 and older will be eligible for the vaccine on Monday, April 5,” DeSantis said earlier this week.
