After being harassed by both a Covid diagnosis and rumors of a breakup in November, Florida Georgia Line has announced its fifth studio album. Life goes on, stacked with 16 titles, arrives February 12. The Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley duo produced the album with Corey Crowder, making it their first full album without longtime producer Joey Moi.
Life goes on compile the six songs of FGL 6 packages EP, released in May, and debut single “Long Live” with new tracks like “Life Looks Good”, written with Crowder and Jaren Johnston, and “New Truck”, composed by an army of seven writers, including one songwriter. – performer Priscilla Renea, who co-produced the track. The album announcement doesn’t come with a new song, but with a video taking fans into the studio with Florida Georgia Line.
“I personally think this is just a big festive chapter,” said Hubbard, who resisted Covid last month, in a statement. “We’ve come a long way since 2012 when we released our first album, it’s crazy to think of the journey we’ve been on – the things we have to do, the places where the music has taken us. We celebrate life and the good times, the ups and downs, and the journey it took to get to where we are.
“It’s just evident in the music how good we are having a good time,” Kelley says, “and how good we are in life.”
It’s hard not to read the second half of Kelley’s quote. In November, astute Instagram watchers noticed that Hubbard had not followed Kelley around the presidential election, fueling speculation about a breakup. The duo appeared on Sirius XM to refute the rumor.
“Someone sent me an article two days ago that BK and I were breaking up and I thought, ‘Well that’s news to me,'” Hubbard told the personality. from Storme Warren Radio. “I didn’t follow BK for a few days as we were through this politics, in the midst of this election and everything that was going on. I even called him up and said to him, I said, ‘Hey buddy, I love you. And I love you a lot more in real life than in your stories right now. That’s why I’m no longer following you. Nothing personal. I still love you. You are still my brother. I just didn’t want to see it every time I opened Instagram. And so it wasn’t a big deal. We are on good terms. We feel stronger than ever.
Florida Georgia Line’s latest album, I can’t say that I’m not a country, was released in 2019. Recently, the duo announced a new multi-year North American touring contract with Live Nation. They plan to return to the live scene next summer.
