A man in Florida was arrested Friday after investigators were alerted by text messages in which he reportedly detailed his intention to "shoot as many people as possible in a large crowd," according to a local sheriff's office.
Tristan Scott Wix, 25, of Daytona Beach, was charged with threatening large-scale shooting, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office reported.
In a text, he said he wanted his shot beats a world record.

In an interview, Wix told the detectives that he did not own any firearms but was fascinated by the mass shootings, the bureau added.
Sheriff's detectives were in the process of obtaining a search warrant for Wix's home Friday, officials said in a Facebook post. We did not know immediately what had been found.
Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood congratulated Wix's ex-girlfriend for alerting MPs, Fox reported.
