A Florida man walked into the sheriff’s office on Wednesday and confessed to strangling a woman to death over a decade ago, telling cops he “couldn’t live with the guilt.”

Benjamin Moulton, 43, told detectives he killed Nicole Scott in 2011 in a fit of rage, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

“He told detectives that he had since ‘found Jehovah and could no longer live with the guilt,’” the statement said.

Moulton is said to have revealed details of Scott’s death to the cops that were never made public.

Surveillance footage obtained by the Herald-Tribune shows Moulton apparently being dropped off outside the sheriff’s office, getting out of the backseat of a car and walking around the office with a drink in hand.

He returns outside accompanied by an officer, shows the video, as he speaks through a slumped-shouldered mask – the drink still in hand.

“It hardly ever happens that way,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Randy Warren told Fox 13.

A man has found Scott, 29, dead in a wooded area off University Boulevard in Manatee County, the statement said. According to the sheriff’s office, she was partially clothed and showed signs of trauma to her face and was subsequently strangled.

Authorities, who determined his body had been dumped there days before, spoke to Moulton at the time of the crime, but never arrested or linked him directly to the crime. Detectives were never able to identify “a clear suspect” in the case, the sheriff’s office said.

Moulton now faces a charge of first degree murder.
