It had to be easy to spot.

A Florida man was scratched by a jaguar at the Jacksonville Zoo on Wednesday, after he jumped over a safety fence and planted his arm in an enclosure, according to local reports.

The man, who has not been publicly identified but is in his 20s, has been hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, local media outlet WJXT reported.

Witnesses told the station that the predatory visitor to the park stimulated the big cats before jumping over a door and entering the “Range of the Jaguar” exhibit.

He then apparently tried to get the attention of the wild animals, causing one of them to put his arm around him.

“He’s an individual who wasn’t using his head,” zoo deputy director Dan Maloney said. “He put his hand through the wire mesh that separates the jaguars from the outside. “

A zoo user said she saw employees cleaning up a trail of blood after the man was killed with his arm bandaged, according to the report.

He was lucky the jaguar didn’t hang on, Maloney said, otherwise “it would have been a very different story.”
