A Florida sheriff’s deputy will not survive being shot during a traffic stop, medics said on Saturday.
Deputy Joshua Moyers, 29, was shot in the face and back Friday morning outside of Jacksonville after arresting Patrick McDowell.
The 35-year-old suspect was driving a stolen vehicle and is still on the run, cops said.
Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper said medics had determined “there was nothing they could do about Josh.”
Moyers is kept alive until a match is found for his organs, which will be donated.
Hundreds of cops are looking for McDowell, who allegedly shot a police dog that was on his trail in a rural area, according to the Florida Times-Union.
“This guy is dangerous. If you’re in a house and he breaks into your house and you have a gun, pop him out the door because he’s like a rabid animal, ”the County Sheriff said. Nassau, Bill Leeper, according to the newspaper.
“He will kill you with his state of mind.” What he did to this member was unwarranted, unnecessary and he has to pay for it.
