Florida State Head Coach Mike Norvell discussed the Seminoles’ relentless 33-30 victory over the Syracuse Orange on Saturday night. The game rested on the shoulders of kicker Ryan Fitzgerald, as he scored a 34-yard field goal with a second on the clock after two huge points from quarterback Jordan Travis put them in the goal scoring position. Here’s what Norvell had to say after the game:
“We knew it was going to come down to one game… It took us all the phases to win it in the end.”
Jordan Travis finished the game 22-32 with two touchdowns and led the team in rushing yards with 113 rushing yards.
“It’s huge for him. The start of the season has been difficult for Jordan. Just a lot of factors that come into play. Wednesday was a big day, to see him not necessarily feel good, to see him come out and push to really get into a position to play … He did.
Norvell on feeling like he got the first win of the season:
“I’m happy for our players, I know the work that goes into it and I know how much this program means to them and it’s a challenge. Some of the ways we’ve lost games, our kids are feeling it. Seeing them being able to finish the game the way it was was huge. “
