FOLLOW UP: strong winds, snow, blowing snow, time of fall

[ad_1]

A very powerful storm system continues to cross the area and bring rain changing to snow tonight with VERY strong winds. In addition, we could witness heavy rains tonight which, with the melting of snow, could cause flooding. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH watch is in effect until midnight.

When the rain turns into snow, it can mix with freezing rain and then produce heavy snowfall. The winds will also blow at about the same time … Gusts will be possible at 55 mph tonight and tomorrow. Blizzard warnings and weather warnings are given for areas likely to receive snow and will therefore have blizzard or near-blizzard conditions.

There will be a sharp break between the heavier snow and the lighter snowfall.

The rain will mingle with freezing drizzle and possibly melted snow before turning into snow tonight.

The snow will start early Sunday morning … probably before sunrise.

The winds will blow gusts to 55 mph for much of Sunday. Snowbound people may not have the problem of blowing snow, but will still have gusts creating dangerous driving conditions.

On Sunday, temperatures will drop and it will be cold all week. Some weak systems will follow on Monday and Tuesday and may crowd out some flurries.

Stay tuned to KWWL and KWWL.com for updates.
