Football notes: Jets worried about Le'Veon Bell's weight

In this issue of Friday Football Footnotes, the Jets are concerned that Le'Veon Bell is too heavy and Antonio Brown may want too much money in a new deal. In addition, a flashback Troy Polamalu. And the last reason that Deion Sanders is a fool.

Is it Le'Veon Bell or Jerome Bettis?

At least one team worries that Le'Veon Bell's bank account will become too big.

The Jets have long been a potential contender for Bell if it were to go to the open market. We now know that this will be the case after Kevin Colbert said on Wednesday that the Steelers would not use a transition marker on their former All-Pro running back.

Manish Mehta wrote in the New York Daily News that "the Jets would take Bell at the right price".

It is unclear what this price would be, however. He says Bell will be asking for at least $ 48 million in the first three years.

This could repel New York for two reasons.

Mehta says the first is that the team is worried about "Bell's motivation after a big payday".

Secondly, Mehta learned that Bell may have become too scathing during his sabbatical year.

"We know in the street that Bell, who weighs about 225 pounds, has reached 260 pounds at some point during his one-year break," he writes. "The Jets are very worried about the form it currently holds."

Maybe Bell needs some of those nocturnal cardio sessions like Antonio Brown.

Mr. Big Chest sounds good. Mr. Big Gut does not do it.

What about A.B.

Oh, we're not done with Gang Green! Should not they also be interested in Antonio Brown?

Yes. Yes, they should. Robbie Anderson, a restricted free agent, was New York's top catcher last year. He made 50 passes on 94 targets and 752 yards. No other catcher of the team had more than 40 catches and 502 yards.

Having Brown, who had 104 receptions and 1,297 yards last year, could be a big improvement for Sam Darnold. So, are they going to roll the dice on Brown's attitude, mentality and compensation?

This is what Mehta said in this regard:

"I understand that the Jets have not yet engaged in trade negotiations with the Steelers, but the smart money is that a conversation will take place in Indianapolis next week at Scouting Combine.

"One Jets Drive has the impression that Brown, who wants a reworked contract with a money back guarantee, will be paying for his next destination … and not one of his top picks."

If anyone enters Brown's ear and reminds him of Mr. Big Chest's marketing opportunities in the Big Apple, he will change his mind.

Not ready for the "Prime Time"

Deion Sanders NFL Network sent this tweet about the Steelers.

Sanders's opinion is worse than the one he's talking about in the open.

It did not really end well for the Steelers with Brown and Bell, did it? But I notice that he left it out of his analysis.

What do you mean by "Prime Time"? Who do you mean is "the elephant in the room?" Ben Roethlisberger or Mike Tomlin? Or both?

Instead of being passive-aggressive, why not come right away and say it?

I wonder why he did not do it. Hmm?

How's that for passive-aggressive? Two people can play this game.

From the point of view of the national media, the blame that moves away from Bell and Brown and anyone in Black and Gold is overwhelming.

Something is missing

Thursday, Fox Sports tweeted this montage of highlights from Troy Polamalu.

It was awesome. I noticed however that it was missing an important piece.

Hey, it's not because Pete Morelli wanted to act as if nothing had happened, that Fox was not supposed to do the same.

I did not see that coming

Here is a non-Steelers.

The case of the Broncos quarterback, Keenum, is described as "definitely shocked" and "disappointed" that the team has built a deal with Baltimore for Joe Flacco.

Keenum went to Denver last year for a two year contract worth $ 21 million. We do not know if it will be exchanged, released or kept as a reserve for Flacco.

"We do not know what's going to happen," Keenum said in Jason Romano's Spectrum podcast. "There are still a lot of things in the air. It's very fresh.

Keenum will receive $ 7 million whether or not he is on the Denver list.
