On Thanksgiving night, Tennessee had some bad news on the recruiting front. That’s understandable, given the 2-5 start of the 2020 season and the sudden noise surrounding Jeremy Pruitt.
Top corner prospect Damarius McGhee announced his clearance from Tennessee on Thursday afternoon, again leaving the Volunteers with a need at the post.
I want to thank all of my Tennessee family for everything. I will disengage and open up my choices to see which school is the right one for me!#RespectMyDecision

McGhee signed up to Tennessee this summer, picking volunteers over Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia and Miami in July. It’s a big disappointment for Tennessee with the early signing period slated to open in less than a month.
The 6-1 defensive back is one of the top 100 players in the class, according to 247Sports. He is ranked 89th overall in the category and ranked eighth best cornerback in the country. McGhee is from Pensacola, Florida.
Tennessee is back with 26 class commitments. They only have a few options left that could play the cornerback as it is, with guys like Jay Jones and Christian Charles still in the boat.
LSU is seen as a new player for McGhee, with Ole Miss, Miami and Georgia remaining in the mix. His recruitment is to be watched over the next month, and potentially beyond if he does not decide at the start of the period.
