Mexican soccer star Raul Jimenez underwent surgery on Sunday night after breaking his skull during a Premier League match in London, his team confirmed.
The 29-year-old forward was playing for his club Wolverhampton against Arsenal – when he collided with the Brazilian star David Luiz by going after a corner in the 5th minute of the match.
Both heads were banging together – and it was so loud you could hear the impact on the TV show.
Medics rushed to the field to treat the two men – but it was obvious Jimenez was badly injured … and they called for the stretcher.
He was eventually taken to a nearby hospital – where he was diagnosed with a skull fracture and underwent surgery.
Wolverhampton issued a statement Monday morning – saying: “Raul is comfortable after an operation last night, which he had in a London hospital.”
“He has our love and support as he begins a period of recovery. We are all with you, @ Raul_Jimenez9.”
As for Luiz, he was bandaged and stayed in the game.
Wolverhampton ended up winning the game 2-1.
