The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Saturday released recommendations for the upcoming holiday season, including the idea of using a window fan to keep the air as cool as possible at a party in inside.
The CDC appears to suggest that indoor air circulation can keep the airborne coronavirus away, or at least reduce its chances of spreading during home gatherings.
“If you’re celebrating indoors, let in some fresh air by opening windows and doors, if possible,” says its guidelines for holiday celebrations. “You can use a window fan in one of the open windows to blow air out of the window. This will suck in cool air through the other open windows.”
That said, even if the worst of the summer pandemic wave had passed, the CDC would much prefer Americans not to gather indoors with loved ones or visitors this winter.
He recommends meeting only with members of a household, meeting distant family and friends virtually, or, if necessary, “having an outdoor party with everyone at least 6 feet away. one another “.
Those who must venture to events should be vaccinated, the CDC said. And they should wear masks in communities where rates of the spread of Covid-19 are high or where the immunization status of others is unknown, even if the parties are outside, the CDC said.
The agency said unvaccinated people should not travel and stressed that masks are still needed on public transport.
