Ford Motor will cut more than 5,000 jobs in Germany and an undetermined number of jobs in the UK, a company spokeswoman said Friday after the company announced plans to redefine troubled European activities sooner this year.

"The goal is to significantly reduce structural costs, reduce bureaucracy, empower managers and managers, and eliminate less value-added work," said a spokeswoman for Ford. .

This transaction is part of a restructuring aimed at transforming the company's European operations, announced in January. At the time, the automaker had announced that thousands of jobs would be phased out in Europe. Last October, Ford informed employees of a global restructuring.

The company has offered voluntary departure programs to German and British employees, the spokeswoman said. The number of cuts in the UK remains to be determined, she said.

A spokesman added that other measures, including potential job cuts, would be required in all of its activities in Europe, but that they were still under development.
