Ford Mustang Inspired Electric SUV Spied Bearing Metal Production

In just a few months, we'll have our first glimpse of the much anticipated Ford electric SUV inspired by the Mustang. According to news reports, Ford will release new details in November, possibly at the Los Angeles Auto Show. But we will probably not see the final product before 2020 before the sale of the SUV for the model year 2021. To hold us until then, new spy photos show an overview of the body near the production of the Ford EV, concealed under a camouflage.

You may not be able to say so given the extensive camouflage, but this is our first preview of the Ford Mustang-inspired electric SUV in its near-road final form. Our spy photographers have captured it in test near the Blue Oval headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. At first glance, there is not much to look beyond the apparent cladding – but dig a little further and there are some interesting details to report.

First, ignore the greenhouse shaped Ford Flex in the rear. Black camouflage is clearly a facade designed to hide a much more elegant shape, similar to that of a coupe. Also ignore the pretty five-spoke wheels and taillights. None of these characteristics is likely to reach production. But, there are some things to note on the front-end.

It seems that all this camouflage on the frontal fascia of the prototype hides markers close to the production, like those previously teased. The LED headlamps and the rounded "grille" portion appear clearly behind the liner. However, based solely on these photos, we can not find any "Mustang inspired" clues. Maybe more spy photos will reveal the final shape closer to a start.

In its full-fledged debut in 2020, the Mustang-inspired (probably Mach E) electric SUV, inspired by the Ford Mustang, will offer 300-mile (482-kilometer) range. Items such as price and finish are still unknown, but Blue Oval's EV will be in direct competition with the Tesla Model Y, which will go on sale next year and start selling at less than 40 $ 000. We should know more about the Ford that is getting closer to the crossover preview in just a few months.
