The group at MotorTrend purchased its new dirty machine guns on a new 20120 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 (not shown) and headed directly to the test bench to see what the car actually stands for in terms of power and of couple. The 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 engine has a red line of 8,250 rpm and is factory-designed for 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of crank torque.
The publication estimates that with the typical loss of 15% what the engine does to the crank and what the car has to the rear wheels. This would mean that the expected numbers of dyno would be about 457 horsepower and 373 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. It seems that for some reason, Ford may underestimate the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 on which MotorTrend got its hands. Presumably, it's not a ringtone. the engine produces more power than Ford claims.
The dyno spins for the 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, which displays 494 horsepower and 382 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. These figures taken into account for the crank power mean that the engine develops about 568 horsepower and 439 pounds crank. That's 42 horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque more than Ford claims.
Another interesting point of the dyno leaves is that the torque is very close to its maximum between 3,300 and 6,000 rpm when it starts to fall. The maximum power of the engine at high speed is approaching the limit of 8,250 rpm. MotorTrend used a 2015 GT350 in the past and this car has a power of 467 horsepower, demonstrating that the GT350 2019 produces more power. Ford also seems to have underestimated the Ford GT as we saw a video producing more power than expected.
