– Ford recalls more than 550,000 trucks and SUVs in North America, as seatbacks may not hold people properly in a crash.

The recall involves certain F-150 2018 to 2020 pickup trucks, 2019 and 2020 Super Duty trucks, 2018 and 2019 Explorer SUVs, and 2019 and 2020 Expedition SUVs. All are equipped with a backrest mechanism of the driver's seat or the front passenger.

The 2020 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs, with rear seats and manual backrest mechanisms, are also included.

Ford says trucks may not have a third ratchet needed for seat strength, which increases the risk of injury in a crash. Ford says that he does not know of crash or injury.

Dealers will inspect the seating structures and replace them if necessary. Most are supposed to pass. The owners will be informed from October 7th.
