John Hickenlooper, the former Democratic governor of Colorado, is expected to announce his intention to enter the Democratic primary next week, Fox News said.
Hickenlooper's team got a permit from the city to hold an event Thursday at the Civic Center Park in Denver, according to documents filed with the city. Andy Boian, an informal adviser to Hickenlooper, told Fox News that the event would be a presidential announcement.

The venue of the event is symbolic: it lies between its former offices of Mayor of Denver and Governor of Colorado.
Hickenlooper, who served as governor from 2011 to 2019, teased a future announcement Thursday night by posting a regression photo and jokingly: "The unpublished EP of John Folkenlooper will be available soon."
When he entered the race, Hickenlooper, who did not have the national recognition of the other participants, would join an overcrowded Democratic primary fighting for the chance to face President Trump in 2020.
Hickenlooper is proud to have reached the other side of the hall and collaborated with former Ohio Governor John Kasich, a Republican. He was on the candidate list for Hillary Clinton's vice-presidential candidate, Democrat 2016, before choosing Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia.
