Former developers of Ubisoft, EA and BioWare have settled as independent developers Yellow Brick Games

Four developers with leadership experience like Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and BioWare have teamed up to form Yellow Brick Games and aim to develop indie games with a “craft approach”.

These four founding developers include former Dragon age Creative Director Mike Laidlaw who left Ubisoft earlier this year after just over a year with the company. Laidlaw is joined by Ubisoft Montreal veteran and Sunny Side Up Creative founder Thomas Giroux, former senior Ubisoft and EA producer Jeff Skalski, and longtime Ubisoft Quebec director and game designer Frédéric St-Laurent B.

“We have learned a lot working on world-class, multi-year projects with thousands of colleagues and we want to take a different approach,” read a statement from Skalski, now COO and executive producer of Yellow Brick.

“By leveraging a small, talented team where people come first, we will create amazing worlds and experiences for everyone else to enjoy. The market is moving fast and we have no desire to catch up and chase it when we can influence where it is going. goals led us to found Yellow Brick Games. ”

Yellow Brick is headquartered in Quebec, but has a team of 15 developers working remotely in Montreal and other countries. Currently, the team is working on an original game for the new generation of consoles, and aims to do so while keeping a “craft approach” as the main vision of the company, while expanding its team.
