Former GOP congressman Denver Riggleman announced Friday night that he would join the special House committee to examine the deadly January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol as a senior technical advisor.

JAN. COMMITTEE 6, AFTER THE PARTISAN BATTLE FOR NOMINATIONS, HAS ITS FIRST HEARING ON THE ATTACK ON THE CAPITOL

Riggleman, a former Air Force officer who represented Virginia’s 5th District for a single term before losing to main Republican challenger Bob Good last year, confirmed he would join the committee in a video posted on twitter.

“I have to say doing this could be one of the greatest things I’ve ever done in my life,” said Riggleman, 51. “This includes the deployment almost 20 years ago, just after September 11.”

“We can’t worry about the color of the shirts anymore, or if we have an ‘R’ or a ‘D’ next to our name,” added Riggleman. “It is time for us to take a factual look at what happened on January 6th, [and] to see if we can prevent this from happening again in the future.

“I’m happy to be a part of this,” concluded Riggleman. “I want to give my word to everyone that I will do it in a professional, transparent, ethical manner.”
