Sean Kennedy, the former bassist of Australian band I Killed the Prom Queen, has died at the age of 35.

Members of Australia’s music community confirmed Sean’s death, posting tributes on social media, according to a report released on Wednesday by New Fury Media.

Brag Media reported on Wednesday that the metal and hardcore musician “sadly passed away after committing suicide”.

Sean’s former teammate Michael Crafter shared an emotional Facebook post on Wednesday paying tribute to his late friend.

“For years we stood side by side on stage or in group photos. We slept on the ground, in vans, in airplanes and made it around the world, ”the 39-year-old singer wrote.

‘The time has passed to [sic] quickly. We have had ups and downs on the road and after all that we have been through you will always be my friend. Over the years, I am happy that we have always been there for each other.

He added: ‘When I called you last week I didn’t think it would be the last. I wish I could say goodbye. Love and you will always be missed, buddy.

Meanwhile, The Amity Affliction’s Ahren Stringer shared a series of photos of himself and Sean on Instagram, reflecting on their friendship.

“You were one of a kind @skdtd my brother, my friend, my confidant,” the bassist wrote.

Sean joined the Adelaide-based group in 2003.

He went on to become the bassist for hardcore punk band Deez Nuts, having replaced former bassist Jon Green in 2014.
