President Trump revealed Friday that the former Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Thomas Homan, was returning to the administration under the name of "Tsar Border", while he was trying to fight against the migration wave on the southern border.

"Tom Homan is coming back, I would say it would be announced next week, unless I prefer to announce it now," Trump said in an interview with "Fox and Friends." "He's going to be very involved in the border, what he really wants to be involved with."

Trump said that Homan, who was acting director of the control agency until last June and currently contributing to Fox News, would be a "border tsar". The title and exact role of Homan is unclear, as a tsar is normally an informal term.

"He will be a tsar of the border, he will be very involved in the border, he will bring me back directly, working at the White House, but spending a lot of time at the border," said Trump. "He's a good man, he's a good man."

Homan remains a staunch supporter of the president's immigration policies since leaving office and praised Trump's response to the upsurge of migrants attempting to enter the United States through the southern border.

Most recently, it praised Trump's agreement with Mexico that the United States will drop threatened tariffs in exchange for stronger action by Mexico against the flow of migrants to their southern border, and criticized the Democrats for their opposition to his efforts.

"May God help us if another tragedy strikes us, because the Democratic leaders of Congress want to play politics with our security and are blinded by their willingness to see our president fail," he said. "Nobody should want our president to fail. His success is America's success. "
