Former Michigan basketball player, Kendric Price, died as a result of a gunshot injury on Saturday morning in Boston. according to WFXT-TV in Boston.

Police were called around 3 am after the murder of a person on Greenwood Street in Dorchester, a neighborhood of Boston. According to WFXT, the police found a man shot dead who was later declared dead on the scene.

This man was Price, who was in Michigan's recruiting class in 2005. The 6-foot-8 inch prize was attending Buckingham Browne & Nichols High School and, according to his UM athlete profile, was an accomplished jazz pianist and a jazz and choral singer.

WCVB-TV in Boston reports that Price was 32 years old and that he was an assistant coach of the Men's Basketball Team at the University of Massachusetts-Boston.

The WCVB issued a statement from the university that said, "Kendric was an excellent young coach who worked for our men's basketball program, and we are all saddened by the tragic news of his passing." Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. from Kendric. "

Price played only one season at U-M, 2006-07, after being redshirt as a freshman. That year, he averaged 1.1 points and 0.9 rebounds in eight games. The Wolverines went 22-13 this season and reached the second round of the NIT.

After this season, U-M fired Tommy Amaker and John Beilein. Price left the team in October 2007, although the school honored her scholarship for the 2007-08 school year. He graduated from U-M in 2008.

WFXT reports that no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
