Robert Kraft didn’t pull a lot of shots in his last media availability.
The longtime Patriots owner made no secret of his disappointment over New England’s poor 2020 season and spoke quite candidly about Tom Brady’s departure. Kraft also didn’t come to Bill Belichick’s defense as it is arguably the biggest blow against the Patriots head coach.
Kraft noted that New England had not written well in recent years and the collection of duds played a role in the Patriots’ spending spree around the turn of the league’s new year. Jeff Saturday saw the remark as a shot at Belichick, who the former NFL center says has an easy line at his disposal.

I think Bill needs to walk into Mr. Kraft’s office and talk about their record over the past 10 years and the Super Bowls in ’14, ’16, ’18, “ESPN said on” Get Up “on Saturday Thursday. . “Think about the quality of this team and you will try to see how well they wrote. I mean, I think that’s a ridiculous comment. If you look at their draft, how impressive was it? How do you describe it? I think wins are what we’re all looking for.
“I really don’t care if we win the draft. So why Kraft took this photo on Bill, I’m not really sure. I don’t know if that’s just what’s going on with Tampa Bay and Tampa Tom having a Super Bowl – all of those things. But man, if I’m Bill, I’m gonna go ahead and show him like everyone else, ‘Watch the record, man.’ There is not much to complain about here.
Kraft, during its media availability Wednesday, also acknowledged that the Patriots are taking a “different approach” to the project this year. New tactics incorporated by New England remain to be seen, but the organization’s free agency madness suggests the franchise could be aggressive during the draft as well.
