Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton on Wednesday offered a joint video statement of bipartisan support for President Joe Biden as part of the closing events of his inauguration.
Together, the three former presidents – two Democrats and one Republican – have expressed their commitment to American democracy across party lines, mirroring Biden’s campaign motive: unity through an era of division. They stressed that Americans must come together to overcome the country’s urgent problems, including the coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed more than 400,000 Americans.
“Everyone needs to get off their horses and reach out to their friends and neighbors and try to make that happen,” Clinton said.
