"I believe in the American people," he said last week, according to the Union-Tribune. "I believe in the non-party program of my party, but also that of our current president, and we will do everything in my power to promote it."

Previously, Issa had declared that he would run for Hunter's headquarters if his confirmation of the appointment to a position in the Trump administration was stalled in Congress.
