Donald Trump’s former adviser and longtime friend Tom Barrack was released from federal prison on Friday on $ 250 million bail.
Barrack was indicted earlier this week for illegally lobbying Trump on behalf of a foreign government – the United Arab Emirates – during the former president’s campaign and presidency in 2016.
The 74-year-old paid $ 5 million in cash for his immediate release on Friday and added three sureties to his bond, including Jonathan Grunzweig, director and chief investment officer of his private equity firm, Colony Capital.

The Los Angeles resident has pleaded not guilty after being accused of illegally influencing Trump’s foreign policy positions during his first campaign and in his presidency until April 2018.

Barrack is only permitted to travel between Los Angles and New York City, although all of his travel must be approved through government channels.
Prosecutors have reportedly urged US investigating judge Patricia Donahue to keep Barrack behind bars and alleged he posed a potential flight risk due to “overwhelming evidence of his guilt.”
Barrack has been described as “an extremely wealthy and powerful individual with substantial ties to Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” Bloomberg first reported.
At a hearing Tuesday, prosecutors said Trump’s ally had access to a private jet as well as “deep and long-standing ties with countries that do not have extradition treaties with the United States. United States”.

Barrack was prohibited not only from international financial transactions, but also from spending more than $ 50,000, except for his legal fees.
