Investigators have found the severed head of a soldier from Fort Bragg, but his body is still missing, according to reports.
SPC. Enrique Roman-Martinez was on a camping trip in the Outer Banks of North Carolina during Memorial Day weekend when he went missing, authorities reported. He was a 21-year-old paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division from Chino, California.
His head washed up on a Shackleford Banks beach days after his disappearance, the Durham Herald Sun reported on Saturday.

An autopsy showed the soldier had been beheaded, the newspaper reported. However, it is not known how he died.

“A definitive cause of death cannot be determined, (but) the results in this case are more consistent with death due to homicide,” the newspaper said, citing the autopsy report.
The autopsy found evidence of “multiple cut wounds” to Roman-Martinez’s head and that his jaw had been broken in at least two places, the newspaper reported.

A toxicological examination did not reveal any drugs in his system.
The murder investigation includes the military, FBI and other agencies, Lt. Col.. Michael Burns, a spokesperson for Fort Bragg said, according to the Cateret County News-Times.
“There’s an entire team dedicated to this,” he says.
A sister told Fox 11 Los Angeles in July that she was told Roman-Martinez had gone camping with seven other soldiers from Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

“It was her last year in the military,” Griselda Martinez, 26, told the station. “He was going to come home … We had so many plans.”
