Epic has just published a blog to announce improvements to the Arena Twinning. AMA will take place on FortNiteBR subreddit on Friday, May 31 from 3pm to 4pm (8pm to 9pm UTC).

MATCHMAKING ARENA IMPROVEMENTS

Shortly after version 9.1, we launched a new iteration of our matching logic Arena and have since reviewed and tweaked the mode.

Previously, we used a model in which you were looking for opponents with a similar amount of Hype, and this range of Hype grew with time to search more widely for appropriate players. After 15 minutes of waiting, we would give up and create the best possible match based on the players available at that moment. To avoid problems where players with an extremely high Hype would never end up, people over 350 Hype were considered equal for the purposes of match creation.

The main problem of this old model was that all players looking for a game had to expand their range of Hype to join each other. This means that players in high population divisions would easily create matches, leaving players from lower population divisions still looking for additional players.

The new mapping system uses a set of Hype ranges that define a series of compartments. If a compartment does not have enough players, it will merge with the neighboring compartment after a certain amount of time. We expect this to create better matches for players from all divisions and significantly reduce the occurrences where Champions League players are paired with Open League opponents after a long wait. In addition, it should extend into smaller areas during slots when there are fewer players in the higher and lower divisions.

We keep a close watch on the waiting times and the quality on the new system. We are still making adjustments, so you may have some interruptions in the development of the new system. Make sure to ride and try.

HOW TO REPORT BUGS

Thanks to the help of the community, we have been able to solve some important problems in recent weeks at a faster pace. We will continue to do so and your help speeds up our process. The quality of each bug report helps us greatly to study and solve problems, especially in the case of complex competition issues. Including as much of the following information in each bug report speeds up our internal process of bug removal:

1) Clear and detailed description of the bug, and when it occurs.

  • The more detailed the description, the faster and more accurately we can study.
  • Specifying the date the bug was encountered allows us to refine certain updates and fixes.

2) Platform on which the bug occurs.

  • Sometimes specific bugs only affect certain platforms.
  • The list of this information also helps us determine if a problem is occurring on a single platform or across our ecosystem.

3) Video proof of the bug.

  • A video is worth 1000 words.
  • Linking to specific clips allows us to attempt direct playback internally.
  • If you see something, say something! Even if you do not play yourself, you can make a difference by cutting bugs and problems while watching your favorite players compete.

4) Player logs and report button in the game.

  • Player logs provide us with a direct overview of many different variables that occur in a match. They are incredibly helpful to our team when we sort bugs.
  • You can directly submit a bug report in the game by going to the menu and selecting the "Comments" button, which will automatically send us these logs. Do not forget to be as detailed as possible in the text fields of the game.
