Apex Legends happened like a thunderbolt in the space of the royal battle this month, and he clearly scared Fortnite a little who saw Twitch dive numbers, not to mention what could have happened to the base of players and income, numbers that we do not know yet.

Mountain peak and Fortnite are different games but Mountain peak a lot brought to the table which is clearly good for the genre. And now Fortnite will steal some of these things. Sorry sorry I mean repeat. I do not blame Epic here. That's what the video game industry does: use the good ideas of other games to keep the genres growing. But Epic does that very blatantly to the point where it's quite funny, and they've also done it quick, grabbing all this stuff for season 8 literally starting just four weeks after Mountain peak arrived on the scene.

The first thing Fortnite copied is a lite version of Mountain peakThe ping system. Mountain peakThe pings have even more global options, but Fortnite took the essential that makes the game of the team without microphone much, much easier. Here's what you can do now in Fortnite with pings:

  • Pings place a visible distance marker across the walls
  • You can ping without displaying the map
  • You can quickly double-tap for an enemy ping
  • You can ping weapons and specific objects

All of these things are totally out of the Mountain peak ping system, and although there is no super-advanced "an enemy was here before" or a "we should defend this region", Fortnite now contains all the essentials and it's a good addition to the game, as an excellent system in Apex.

Past that, the other thing Fortnite perhaps the copy is not yet officially in the game, but because of some strange problems, players can see what looks like "second chance buses" in replay mode. These are small buses on which there is a hologram representing a player. Although this is neither active nor announced, the theory is that they copy the Apex system where you can revive a dead teammate at some stations. scattered around the map, and they will come back down and have to change gears.

This is a level after the simple wake up that lets you feel that you are not out of the game yet, even if you are completely shot, and I'm not very surprised that Fortnite implements it here, given its popularity in Apex. I do not know if it will only work in the teams or if it could also work in the duets. Also, no word on when these buses can actually go live.

Until here, these are the only two things Fortnite seems to have taken off at Apex, and I would not expect any hill-climbing or classy abilities in the near future. Still, it's rather fascinating to see Fortnite seize stuff from his rival suddenly scary so quickly and so obviously, not that I blame them.
