The Fortnite Galactus event has come and gone and the planet-sized villain has been ditched, thanks to the help of players around the world. Videos are currently not available on Twitch and YouTube, likely due to a copyright issue with an AC / DC song aired during the event, but I’ll do my best to explain it below.
The Fortnite Live Event, which took place at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. GMT, is the start (and end?) Of The Nexus War. Players begin on the infamous Avengers helicopter, with Galactus’ terrifying head looming on the horizon. Once the event officially begins, absolute unity begins to approach the map.
This is when Galactus begins to absorb zero point, which Iron Man makes sure to tell you is a very bad thing that will cause a “complete collapse of reality.” So Iron Man decides to put you in the driver’s seat of the Battle Bus, which is now equipped with laser cannons. Players then run through a small obstacle course and shoot Galactus robots out of the sky as an AC / DC song sounds. There’s even a Thor and Wolverine cameo to remind you that this is the War of the Nexus.
Ultimately, the goal is to lead the battle bus horde into Galactus’ bigmouth, where a bunch of bombs will go off and push him back through the portal he came through. And that is exactly what is happening. Then, after Galactus explodes, we see Agent Jonesy waking up with a hiccup. Hmm.
The Galactus event leads into Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5, but at the moment the game is offline for around seven hours. While many people thought the arrival of Galactus meant the current map would be shattered into pieces, that doesn’t seem to be the case – at least not yet.
