Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8 brings another alien threat in the form of Marvel’s Carnage and Venom. These two symbiotes crashed on the island recently and are ripe for pickings.
What are Symbiotes?
Symbiotes (called Klyntar on their home planet) are alien life forms capable of bonding with individuals of any species to form a new shared entity. They are parasitic in nature, although they do not always harm their hosts; they often enhance a host’s natural attributes while also granting powers such as superhuman strength, healing, and the ability to form tendrils or tentacles from their arms. In Fortnite, the symbiotes that formed Marvel’s most famous symbiotic characters, Venom and Carnage, have been transformed into portable mythical weapons. Once found, the Venom and Carnage Mythic weapons will take up space in your inventory, allowing you to soar through the air and jump higher than normal. Activating the weapon sends a spin that attacks and pulls enemies in, dealing 60 damage in the process. Seven second cool down prevents constant use.
How to find symbiotes in Fortnite
The Venom and Carnage symbiotes spawn randomly in various locations around the island. Only two seem to appear per match and once they’re picked up by a player, they’re gone. At this point, the only way to get your hands on one is to remove the one that’s currently using it. For this reason, it can be difficult to find the symbiotes in any given match. Fortunately, the guide below will help you increase your chances of bonding with one of them.
To successfully catch one of these symbiotes, you will have to wait for it to spawn during the match. Keep in mind that they do not appear at the start of the match. Instead of, Venom and Carnage don’t appear until after the first Storm Circle is revealed. At this point, symbiote / spider type symbols will appear on the game map. This is your signal to get to these places as quickly as possible.
Note: General online censuses indicate that symbiotes always spawn after the first storm circle. In my testing, this sometimes did not happen. Sometimes they didn’t appear until the second or third storm cycle.
Spawn locations for Venom and Carnage Symbiotes
While Venom and Carnage can spawn anywhere on the map, the two places where they appear most frequently are the fields just southeast of Boney Burbs and northwest of Corny Crops. Symbiotes will float in a canister. Simply interact with him to catch the Venom or Carnage symbiote.
And that’s how you can get your own symbiote in Fortnite. At least, until the Carnage skin is released with the Season 8 Battle Pass!
