The version 8.10 of Fortnite is now available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. Vending machines now work slightly differently since update 8.10; they cost nothing to activate, but they self-destruct after use. They are also rarer now, as ordinary and unusual vending machines have been removed from the game. Before, vending machines required the deposit of a large amount of building materials in order to receive a matching reward.
Heavy assault rifles have also seen their rarities adjusted: they are now found in common, uncommon and rare varieties – the epic and legendary editions are no longer.
A new LTM named The Getaway is now online. It involves locating a jewel and then delivering it to a leaked vehicle before anyone can do it. Four jewels and up to four vans are on the map at a time. Notably, since most of Fortnite's vehicles were kept at the beginning of season 8, this mode brings the all-terrain kart, or ATK, as it is the only vehicle that can carry four people.
It should also be noted a change of matchmaking in cross-play, provided you adhere to it. PS4 and Xbox One players are now bundled into a single pool, while Nintendo Switch players have been moved from this group to another with mobile players. This is now the default setting for standard game modes, which means you will get into cross-play in most cases on these platforms.
