Fortnite season 5 kicked off on Wednesday after a spectacular event to end its fourth season. Developer Epic Games retired the popular battle royale game for part of Tuesday, and players have been waiting to see what comes next for Fortnite.

Zero Point is the title of Fortnite season 5 and features a cast of hunters from different realities. The star of the season is The Mandalorian of Disney plus series with Baby Yoda. Another surprise for the fifth season was the inclusion of Kratos from the God of War series. Epic added the new skin to the Fortnite Item Shop on Thursday for 1,500 V-Bucks, or around $ 15.

In addition to the new characters, players will have new areas of the map to explore, weapons to use, and more content to unlock throughout the season.

When does season 5 start?

Fortnite Season 5 began on December 2 at midnight ET (9 p.m. PT), but according to Epic, servers will be updated until 4 a.m. ET (1 a.m. PT).

What is the theme of season 5?

Zero Point focuses on Agent Jones, who made an appearance at the end of the Nexus War event. He’s brought together a group of hunters from different realities and they’re making sure no one escapes the loop. New points of interest on the Season 5 map such as Hunter’s Haven and Colossal Coliseum will pit players against each other to see who survives.

Season 5 will introduce new quests and bounties with players receiving bars as rewards, which can be redeemed for new weapons and abilities. There’s also a new Battle Pass that unlocks unique skins like Mancake the Battle Flapjack, Mave the Shapeshifter, and of course, The Mandalorian with Baby Yoda.

The official PlayStation Twitter account teased the addition of Kratos to the game on Wednesday with an audio clip of Agent Jones, who is the character responsible for stabilizing the zero point. He says the next target was someone who killed gods with their bare hands.

The confirmation came via the PlayStation Store, which showed an advertisement for Kratos coming to Fortnite. The God of War skin appeared in the in-game Item Shop on Thursday.

What happened during the Nexus War event?

The event began shortly after 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT) on Tuesday. Fortnite players found themselves on a SHIELD helicopter with the cosmic being Galactus looming on the horizon.

The giant slowly approached the island then chased the helicarrier like an insect. Galactus, known to devour planets, has his goal set on point zero, which is the island’s secret energy orb responsible for all reality events that occur on the island.

As players floated past Galactus, Iron Man comes up with a plan on how to stop the Cosmic Being. He outfitted a battle bus for each player with lasers and bombs. The aim is to drive the bus into the giant mouth of Galactus, but in your path are waves of drones. Fortunately, Thor stepped in as well, giving your bus a detour into a trench similar to the one Luke Skywalker went through in A New Hope. This is where AC / DC’s Demon Fire from their new album, Power Up, can be heard in the background. More drones have started to surround the bus and out of nowhere comes Wolverine who uses his adamantium claws to destroy a wall of robots in your path. Iron Man has given you word to ditch the bus as you watch Galactus swallow, explode at the green light, and be forced back into his reality.

The final scene shows a Jonesy wearing a suit, one of Fortnite’s default characters, waking up in an office. This apparently ties into the Season 3 end event where an organization is behind all the crazy things happening on the island and is the connection storyline for the past four seasons.

According to Epic, 15.3 million attended the event while 3.4 million watched on YouTube and Twitch.

Can I play the event on my iPhone or iPad?

Because of a ongoing legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple, the game has been removed from the Apple App Store. This means that even those who have already installed Fortnite on their iPhones or iPads will not be able to participate in this event.

Epic Games are in a similar dispute with Google over Android that led to Fortnite being pulled from the Google Play Store, but there are ways to always download the game without using the google store.
