The season 8 of Fortnite is officially launched and many things have changed in the royal hit battle game. There are new areas of the island to explore, as well as a host of new skins and cosmetics to unlock.
But as they say, the more things change, the more they remain unchanged, and this is especially true for Fortnite. As in past seasons, Epic Games will launch new challenges to complete each week of season 8. Clear them and you will be rewarded with Battle Stars, which in turn will level your battle and unlock the new skins of Season 8. And rewards.
On top of that, if you finish all the challenges of a given week, you will complete one of Fortnite's Discovery Challenges – the equivalent of the Season 7 Snowfall Challenge season. Each challenge Discovery that you complete will reward you with a special program. loading screen, which contains a clue pointing you to a free object hidden somewhere around the island.
The challenges of Week 1 are now online on all platforms, and if you manage to complete them all, you will unlock the loading screen shown above. This one features a pirate crew aboard the giant embarked at Lazy Lagoon, one of the new areas introduced this season. However, if you look closely at the background, you will see a battle star at the top of one of the buildings ashore.
The lazy lagoon is in the northern part of the map, to the west of the giant volcano. Slide to the area at the start of a match and locate the building shown on the loading screen. Fight your way to the top of your tower and the Battle Star will appear. Collect it and you will level your battle by one level. We have indicated its location on the map below and you can see exactly where you should go in the video at the top of this guide.
As in previous seasons, you must keep in mind some caveats before you can get this battle star. It will only appear on the island if you have sufficiently raised challenges and unlocked the aforementioned loading screen. So you can not just go to the right place and expect to pick it up unless you have done all the necessary work.
Fortunately, thanks to the new Party Assist feature, which allows all players to partake in progressing challenges, it should be easier than ever to finish the tasks of Season 8. Epic even added a Ping system copied from Apex Legends. You can read all other changes made by the studio to the game in the release notes of the 8.0 update.
