After a tease last week before the Galaxy Watch 4 unveiling, a leak from the Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch line-up today reveals a rather straightforward successor.
An early retail listing found by WinFuture today shows the devices in their entirety with original specs. Most important is the unsurprising use of the Snapdragon Wear 4100+, marking the wide use of Qualcomm’s 2020 chip.
It measures 12nm with 1.7GHz quad-core A53 processors, while an updated QCC1110 coprocessor on the “plus” variant helps offload more tasks, such as monitoring sleep and heart rate. , of the main processor.
One of the “most advanced health features” featured by Fossil appears to be an SpO2 sensor for tracking oxygen in the blood. This is shown on a new radial watch face that also highlights sleep tracking, heart rate zone, calories burned, step counter, and cardio fitness level.
The Fossil Gen 6 will initially be available in 42mm and 44mm styles and will share many physical similarities with previous generations. All have three buttons and a central crown on the right edge. This also includes the same 1.28 inch display with a resolution of 416 x 416 and a water resistance of 50 meters. RAM – previously 1 GB – is not mentioned, but there will again be 8 GB of storage.
Battery life is said to last for 24 hours and again come with battery modes that allow for extended use by shutting down various features. Meanwhile, the back of the watch no longer features two continuous rings but instead opts for a semicircle design. This is, hopefully, Fossil’s solution to the rings that sometimes come off. We also see the sensor stack modified to allow SpO2.
The German Fossil Gen 6 price will range from € 299 to € 329, and today’s leak indicates that it will be available on September 27.
The history of the software is not confirmed in today’s leak, but Wear OS 3 is not expected until the second half of 2022.
