Four people died after a small plane crashed in the Atlanta area on Friday.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that the single-engine Cessna 210 crashed at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport in Chamblee County as it left, then caught fire.

The names of the victims have not been released and the cause of the crash has not been determined.

Fire captain Captain Jaeson Daniels told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that at least 15 firefighters were involved in putting out the blaze.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA will investigate the crash, with the NTSB taking the lead.

The airport is the second busiest in the state and is located just 10 miles from downtown Atlanta.
